• Indonesia A Step Closer in Making Pertamina the Oil & Gas Holding Firm

    The government of Indonesia is now one step further in turning fully state-owned energy company Pertamina into an oil & gas holding firm. Indonesian President Joko Widodo signed Government Regulation No. 6/2018 on the Formation of a State-Owned Oil & Gas Holding Firm thus formalizing the government's decision to move its 57 percent stake (Series B shares) in gas distributor Perusahaan Gas Negara to Pertamina.

  • US February Payrolls Soar 313,000, Jobless Rate Holds at 4.1%

    Rapidly rising US stock futures and a sell-off in the bond market. These are the results of an impressive US jobs report, released by the US Labor Department on Friday morning (American time) or evening (Indonesian time). The US economy added 313,000 jobs in February 2018, the highest increase since October 2015. A huge rise in construction jobs was one of the key supporting factors. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate stayed at 4.1 percent for a 5th straight month.

  • Donald Trump & Kim Jong Un to Meet to Talk Denuclearization

    On Thursday evening (08/03) Washington time, South Korea's national security adviser Chung Eui-yong announced - at the White House - that North Korea's belligerent leader Kim Jong Un invited US President Donald Trump for talks. Trump accepted the invitation and both parties are expected to meet by May 2018. It would be an unprecedented move as a sitting US president has never met a North Korean leader.
