  • Stock Market Update Indonesia: Return of Foreign Investors?

    The benchmark Jakarta Composite Index closed 0.06 percent higher at 6,6067.14 points on Friday (24/11), not far from its all-time record high. It is interesting to note that foreign investors showed a renewed interest in Indonesian stocks over the past three trading days. Foreigners recorded a "net buy" of IDR 2.59 trillion (approx. USD $192 million) over these three days.

The opening of this international airport is expected to give a boost to tourist arrivals at Lake Toba (in Indonesian: Danau Toba) in North Sumatra. Silangit Airport, which is located about 70 kilometers to the south of Lake Toba, makes it much easier for domestic and foreign tourists to travel to the famous lake.

  • Domestic Cement Sales & Exports Semen Indonesia Rise in October

    Indonesia's state-controlled cement manufacturer Semen Indonesia experienced a 8.8 percent year-on-year (y/y) increase in domestic cement sales to 2.77 million tons in October 2017. Meanwhile, the company's cement exports jumped a whopping 131.2 percent (y/y) in the same month. However, these exports (145,271 tons of cement in October 2017) come from a low base.
