Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia (GMF AeroAsia), an Indonesian company engaged in the aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul sector, made its trading debut on the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Tuesday (10/10). It was the 25th company that completed its initial public offering in Indonesia in 2017.
Indonesian authorities are currently investigating a suspicious transfer, involving USD $1.4 billion, by Standard Chartered Plc made in late-2015. British multinational banking and financial services company Standard Chartered held these funds - the majority on behalf of Indonesian clients - at Guernsey, a Channel Islands in the English Channel near the French coast.
There still seems no light to appear at the end of the tunnel for ceramic manufacturers in Indonesia. The ceramic industry is largely dependent on the property sector. However, as Indonesia's property sector growth has remained insignificant so far in 2017, there is few room for ceramic sales growth. Moreover, local ceramic producers have to compete with cheap imports from abroad.
Despite the recovering coal price, actual coal production in Indonesia remained relatively low up to the third quarter in 2017. Based on data from Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, national coal output reached 294.5 million tons up to 31 August 2017, roughly 62 percent of the full-year target (477 million tons) that was set by the Energy Ministry.
