The government of Indonesia is preparing tenders for five mining areas. These mining areas were previously operated by listed miners Vale Indonesia and Timah under coal mining licenses (in Indonesian: Perjanjian Karya Pengusahaan Pertambangan Batubara, or PKP2B) and contracts of work (in Indonesian: Kontrak Karya, or KK).
So far this year, a total of 23 companies have conducted an initial public offering (IPO) - hence listed - on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This is a good rebound from only 14 listings in 2016 when uncertain domestic and foreign conditions made companies hesitant to go public. Considering eight IPOs are currently in the pipeline, we should see a good year for IPOs in Indonesia.

Local media company Kontan recently issued its latest Kontan CEO Confidence Index (KCCI).
The Indonesian rupiah is continuing to depreciate on Monday (02/10). By 15:00 pm local Jakarta time the currency had weakened 0.71 percent to IDR 13,568 per US dollar (Bloomberg Dollar Index). Not only the rupiah, but all (emerging market) currencies are sliding in Asia on renewed US dollar strength.
