    Three new stocks will enter Indonesia's LQ45 index for the February-July 2016 period. The LQ45 index, compiled by the research and development division of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), consists of 45 stocks that meet a number of specific criteria. As the stocks listed in the LQ45 are the country's most traded stocks, investors should follow this index. The composition of the LQ45 index is adjusted twice per year (in February and August).

  • Indonesia to Sell Islamic Bonds (Sukuk) on Tuesday

    Indonesia's Finance Ministry will sell rupiah-denominated Islamic bonds (known as Sukuk) on Tuesday (26/01). The ministry set an indicative target of IDR 4 trillion (approx. USD $288 million). Proceeds from the bond sale will be used to finance the government's budget deficit. This deficit is estimated to reach 2.15 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in the 2016 State Budget.

  • Indonesia's Online Gaming Industry Dominated by Foreign Games

    Growing Internet penetration does not only give rise to a thriving online dating business but also to an expanding online gaming industry in Indonesia. Netherlands-based Newzoo, a global market research and predictive analytics firm (with a main focus on the gaming industry), said revenue in Indonesia's online gaming industry rose 77 percent year-on-year (y/y) to USD $321 million in 2015 from USD $181 million in the preceding year. This year the online gaming industry of Indonesia is expected to grow 12 percent (y/y).
