• Profile of Betonjaya Manunggal: Indonesian Iron & Steel Producer

    Indonesia Investments has uploaded the preliminary company profile of Betonjaya Manunggal (BTON). The company, member of the Gunawan Steel Group, is an Indonesian iron and steel manufacturer, which produces steel round bars ranging from 6 mm to 12 mm with a total installed annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of round bars. In the first half of 2013, its net profit fell 34.6 percent to IDR 9.0 billion from the same period in 2012. Its sales revenue fell 32 percent (yoy) to IDR 58.9 billion.

  • Engineering and Manufacturing Company Grand Kartech Lists on IDX

    Grand Kartech, an Indonesian engineering and manufacturing company, will be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) today (08/11). The company offers 163.64 million shares to the public through its initial public offering (IPO). The stock price that was set for the IPO amounts to IDR 275 (USD $0.024) per share and the company expects to reap IDR 45 billion (USD $4.0 million) through this corporate action. Demand for Grand Kartech's shares has been high as the IPO is oversubscribed almost 44 times.

  • Indonesia's Unemployment Rate Rises Slightly in August 2013

    Indonesia's unemployment rate rose slightly in August 2013 from the same month last year. The country's open unemployment rate rose from 6.14 percent to 6.25 percent (of the total labour force). In absolute numbers this translates to 7.4 million jobless Indonesians. Head of Statistics Indonesia, Suryamin, said that Indonesia's slowing economic growth was the main reason for the rise in unemployment, while the supply of human resources increased. In the third quarter of 2013, Indonesia's GDP growth fell to 5.62 percent (yoy).

  • Indonesian Foreign Exchange Reserves at USD $97.0 billion in October 2013

    Indonesia's foreign exchange (forex) reserves totalled USD $97.0 billion at the end of October 2013, up USD $1.3 billion from the previous month (USD $95.7 billion). Consequently, the current level of foreign exchange reserves is equivalent to 5.5 months of imports and the government’s foreign debt payment. Bank Indonesia considers the current stockpile of forex reserves adequate to bolster external sector resilience and is above international adequacy standards.
