    Indonesia Investments added a preliminary company profile of Timah (TINS), an Indonesian manufacturer and exporter of tin. The company, a state-controlled enterprise (SOE), has an integrated tin mining business ranging from exploration, mining, processing to marketing. The company is one of the largest integrated tin mining companies in the world and accounts for eight percent of total global tin production. Recently, the company has been eager to expand to Myanmar in order to increase production volumes.

  • Indonesia's Telecommunications Sector: Bakrie Telecom's Downslide

    Bakrie Telecom is one of the dozen Indonesian telecommunications operators that provide fixed digital radio cellular telecommunication network and services. The company currently has around 12 million cellular subscribers (mostly prepaid). However, both its operational and financial results are showing a worrying development. In April 2013, Fitch Ratings said that Bakrie Telecom is likely to default on its debt and needs to restructure its USD $380 million senior unsecured bonds due in May 2015.

It produces palm oil and its derivatives, and processes natural rubber products as well as oleo-chemicals. The company currently manages oil palm and rubber plantations with a total planted area of 122,024 ha, supported by six palm oil processing plants, four natural rubber processing plants and two oleo-chemicals processing facilities.

  • Indonesia Stock Exchange Expects 30 Newly Listed Companies in 2014

    The Indonesia Stock Exchange expects that 30 companies will conduct their initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2014. This target is the same as the target that had been set for this year. Next year, legislative and political elections in Indonesia will bring some uncertainties to the Indonesian market and may be a reason for some companies to postpone the IPO. Up to now, six companies have announced to conduct their IPO in 2014. In 2013 so far, 25 companies have been newly listed on the IDX.
