Bank Mandiri, Indonesia’s largest bank by assets, reported net profit of IDR 15.5 trillion (US $1.6 billion) over 2012, implying a 26.6 percent increase compared to 2011. Profit growth was fuelled by increase in net interest income, which increased to USD 27.5 trillion (US $2.85 billion), up from IDR 23.6 trillion in the previous year, and a growth in fee-based income of 2.4 percent. The IDX’ property sector category rose 37.6 percent in the indicated period, whereas the benchmark stock index (Jakarta Composite Index, abbreviated IHSG) - which involves all stocks traded on the IDX - climbed 18.7 percent over the same period.
