  • Indonesia Attracts $606 mln Worth of Investment Commitments from the Netherlands

    Rosan Roeslani, Chairman of Indonesia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), is optimistic that investment from the Netherlands into Indonesia will continue to grow in the years ahead as the Indonesian government has been focused on improving the investment climate of Southeast Asia's largest economy. President Joko Widodo's visit to the Netherlands (22-23 April 2016) resulted in about USD $606 million worth of Dutch investment commitments, signed on Friday (22/04) in The Hague.

  • 32 Indonesian Companies Fined, Found Guilty of Forming Beef Cartel

    Indonesia's Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) penalized 32 Indonesian cattle importer and beef feedlot companies with a combined IDR 107 billion (approx. USD $8.1 million) in fines on grounds of the practice of unfair competition. These 32 companies have been found guilty of forming a cartel with the aim of controlling local beef prices, curtailing beef imports, and curtailing the distribution of beef at the expense of the Indonesian consumer, particularly in the Greater Jakarta area.

  • Deadline Mandatory Relocation Jakarta's Industries Extended

    Industry players in Jakarta are somewhat relieved after Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) signalled that he will allow a revision to the mandatory relocation of local industries to designated industrial zones. Based on Regional Regulation No. 1/2014 on Detailed Spatial Planning and Zoning Regulations, all local industries in Jakarta have to be (re)located into the designated industrial zones before 1 January 2017. Ahok is now expected to extend the deadline to the end of 2019.
