• Profile of BW Plantation: an Indonesian Palm Oil Plantation Company

    Indonesia Investment updated the company profile of PT BW Plantation Tbk. BW Plantation is a mid-sized agricultural company that is engaged in Indonesia's palm oil sector. Its primary business activities are the development, cultivation and harvesting of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), and extraction of crude palm oil (CPO) as well as palm kernel (PK). The company is equipped with three CPO mills with a total processing capacity of 135 tons per hour. In 2014, a fourth and fifth processing plant are under construction.

  • Inflation Update Indonesia: Low Inflation or Deflation Expected in March 2014

    Statistics Indonesia (BPS) expects inflation in March 2014 to be kept below the one percent mark due to the arrival of the harvest season. Prices of several commodities, including rice, beef, chicken meet and chili, are expected to ease. In fact, BPS official Sasmito Hadi Wibowo stated that there is a chance on deflation in March 2014. Historically, Indonesia's inflation in March and April tends to be low, particularly in the latter as the harvest season reaches its peak. In 2013, Indonesia recorded inflation at 0.63 percent in March.

  • Jakarta May Face Clean Water Crisis by 2025 if Not Acted Upon Now

    Lately, concerns have arisen that Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, and its immediate surroundings are threatened to experience a clean water crisis by 2025. Clean water, which is produced by two private operators - PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) and Aetra Air Jakarta - currently totals 18.7 m3 per second. However, by 2025, demand for clean water will reach 41.3 m3/second as the population of Jakarta is estimated to grow to 14.6 million people from 9.6 million currently (the unofficial figure is possibly much higher).

    Beritasatu Media Holdings in cooperation with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) officially launched its Index Investor33 on Friday (21/03). This index consists of 33 listed companies at the IDX that share strong fundamentals, assessed through both technical and fundamental analyses. According to Hoesen, Director of Corporate Valuation at the IDX, the 33 companies have influenced the performance of the Jakarta Composite Index (Indonesia's benchmark stock index) considerably in recent years.
