• What about Indonesia's Coal Mining Sector? A Short Overview and Analysis

    Coal is one of the most important commodities for Indonesia in terms of state revenue as it accounts for about 85 percent of the country's total mining revenue. Therefore, when global coal prices fell sharply from 2011 (amid a slowing global economy), Indonesia felt the impact. In a response to lower coal prices, Indonesian miners actually increased coal output thus placing more downward pressure on coal prices and profit margins. Although the coal industry will remain frail for some time to come, long-term prospects are still strong.

  • Overview of the Booming Residential Property Sector of Indonesia

    Indonesia's residential property market has shown robust growth in recent years as demand from the country's rapidly expanding middle class for mid-level and luxury property increased steadily amid a low interest rate environment and robust national economic growth. Demand for property is also backed by high consumer confidence as a recent Nielsen survey shows that Indonesians are among the world's most confident consumers. Indonesians' consumer confidence was at a four-year high in the fourth quarter of 2013.

  • Dining in Jakarta: Everyone Has to Try the Roti Canai in Penang Bistro

    The next restaurant we visited for our column series about dining in Jakarta was the Penang Bistro. This restaurant, which serves a selection of Malaysian, Singaporean and Indonesian dishes, has seven outlets in Jakarta. The outlet we visited is located in the luxurious Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall, right in the heart of Jakarta and next to the iconic roundabout (known as Bundaran HI). Grand Indonesia is connected to the Kempinski Hotel (previously Hotel Indonesia), one of the most luxurious hotels of Indonesia and a landmark building.

Indosat will offer Novosol's MoFutbol multimedia mobile magazine to its fifty million plus subscribers at no charge. MoFutbol is a 24x7 magazine videos, photo-stories and real time scrollers. MoFutbol is the first multimedia mobile football service in the Indonesian language. The Mandarin and Malay editions will follow soon.
