Indonesia's Ranking in A Selection of International Indexes
How does Indonesia rank internationally in terms of happiness, human development, global innovation, and global competitiveness? Below we present a number of global rankings. Generally, Indonesia is ranked among the lower-medium segment, implying the nation has a long way to go before becoming an advanced economy.
World Happiness Report
In the 2016 edition of the annual World Happiness Report, released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Indonesia ranks 79th in terms of citizens’ happiness. This report measures the degree of happiness in nearly all countries around the globe by using six variables: gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and freedom from corruption. In the 2016 edition Indonesia fell five spots compared to one year earlier, possibly the consequence of having another slow year, economically.

Human Development Index
The Human Development Index is the summary of the two key dimensions of human development: (1) long and healthy life, (2) being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living. To determine the ranking the Human Development Report Office takes a look at life expectancy at birth, expected years of schooling, and income per capita indicators. Indonesia - at 110th - falls within the "medium human development" category.

Global Innovation Index
The annual Global Innovation Index is ranks countries by their capacity for, and success in, innovation. Innovation is regarded key to increase a nation's competitiveness, enable economic growth, drive societal changes and build the foundation of its future.

Global Competitiveness Index
The annual Global Competitiveness Report, published by the World Economic Forum, ranks countries based on institutional environment, infrastructure, macroeconomic environment, health and primary education, higher education and training, labor market efficiency, financial market development, technological readiness, market size, business sophistication, and innovation. Indonesia ranks 37th in the 2016 edition.

IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2016
Referred to as the leading annual report on the competitiveness of nations, the World Competitiveness Yearbook. To determine the ranking the agency looks at economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure. Indonesia is ranked 48th in the 2016 edition.
