Kapuas Prima Coal's Trading Debut on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
Indonesian mineral mining and processing company Kapuas Prima Coal became the 27th company to list on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017. The company was the top gainer at its trading debut on Monday (16/10) as its shares soared 70 percent to IDR 238 a piece. This increase touched the upper limit hence triggering the automatic rejection system.
Kapuas Prima Coal, engaged in mining and trading, raised IDR 77 billion (approx. USD $5.7 million) in fresh funds through the initial public offering (IPO) in which it released 550 million shares to the public. Harjanto Widjaja, President Director of Kapuas Prima Coal, said the company's shares were oversubscribed 500 times.
About 80 percent of IPO funds will be used by the the company as capital expenditure (specifically for exploration and infrastructure development), while the remainder is set to be used as working capital. The company plans to conduct exploration in Central Kalimantan.
Kapuas Prima Coal was established in 2005 with its main business activities being mining of basic metals for processing into iron ore, galena, zinc and silver. The company's main export destination is China.
Per April 2017, Kapuas Prima Coal booked IDR 106.85 billion in sales, up 35 percent year-on-year (y/y), and recorded IDR 2.6 billion in net profit (compared to a IDR 17.1 billion net loss in the same period one year earlier).
