Oil & Gas News Indonesia: Oil Lifting Target Achieved in 2016?
Indonesia is on track to achieve its (revised) oil lifting target in 2016 (referring to crude oil that is ready for sale). Two weeks before the end of 2016, Indonesia produced an average of 821,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) this year so far, slightly above the target of 820,000 bpd that was set in the Revised 2016 State Budget. Initially, the Indonesian government targeted national oil production at 830,000 bpd. However, earlier this year the target was revised down to 820,000 bpd.
Amien Sunaryadi, Head of the Special Task Force for the Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), said his institution set its target for crude oil production in Indonesia in 2017 at 825,000 bpd, above the 815,000 that was set by the central government in its 2017 State Budget. Sunaryadi added that the higher oil production target of SKK Migas is based on recent discussions with Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. However, he refrained from mentioning the content of these discussions (that could explain why the upstream oil & gas regulator set a higher oil lifting target than the government).
Indonesian Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan said he agrees with SKK Migas to raise the government's 2017 oil lifting target to 825,000 bpd, even though Commission VII of the House of Representatives and the central government had previously set the oil lifting target at 815,000 bpd in the 2017 State Budget.
Most - around 40 percent - of Indonesia's total oil production in 2017 will be delivered by Chevron Pacific Indonesia. The oil giant targets to produce 330,000 bpd in 2017.
