Skytrax: Cathay Pacific World’s Best Airline, Garuda Indonesia 7th
Skytrax, the United Kingdom-based consultancy airline and airport review and ranking agency, named Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific as the world’s best airline in the World Airline Awards this week at the Farnborough International Airshow in England. Cathay Pacific snatched the title from Emirates that had to settle for a fourth place this year. The ranking is based on surveys involving 16 million air passengers, evaluating the products and services of full-service as well as budget airlines. Garuda Indonesia was ranked seventh.
Besides being included in the top ten of the world’s best airlines, Garuda Indonesia also won the award in the 'World's Best Best Cabin Staff' category. Previously, Garuda Indonesia had won the 'World's Best Regional Airline' in 2012 as well as the 'World's Best Economy Class' in 2013. Both these awards were also based on Skytrax' surveys. These awards confirm the remarkable transition that has been undertaken by Garuda after being banned from flying to the European Union between 2007 and 2009 due to safety concerns. The airline invested heavily in its services and fleet to become a world class airline and regain the trust of passengers and aviation safety regulators. In March 2014, Garuda Indonesia became a full member of the global airline alliance Skyteam.
The economy class passengers indicated to enjoy Garuda Indonesia because of its comfortable chairs and food items.
