60th Asian-African Conference in Jakarta and Bandung Officially Started
The 60th Asian-African Conference in Jakarta and Bandung officially started yesterday (19/04) in the Jakarta Convention Center. On Sunday, Asian-African senior officials gathered for meetings, while today ministerial meetings are on the agenda. The Asian-African Conference aims to enhance economic, political, social, cultural and environmental cooperation among the participating countries. Representatives and business people from 81 countries (Asia, Africa and the Middle East) will visit Indonesia between 19 and 24 April 2015.
The theme of the 60th Asian-African Conference is “Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity”.
On 22-23 April, it will be the turn for the ‘Leaders Meeting’ when various presidents, ministers and CEOs will meet to discuss cooperation. Up to 27 April there is the Asian African Carnival, an event that celebrates 60 years of the Asian African conference. The first Asian-African Conference was held in Bandung (West Java) between 18 and 24 April 1955.
