Indonesia Investments Releases Its September 2024 Report: 'Cup of Tea, Anyone?'
On Friday 4 October 2024 Indonesia Investments released the September 2024 edition of its monthly report. The report discusses a range of economic, political and social topics to assess the state of the Indonesian economy.
What do we discuss in this September 2024 edition?
Firstly, we present an in-depth analysis of Indonesia's tea sector, zooming in on plantations, production, consumption, export and import. There is room for concern over the future of Indonesian tea as the size of tea plantations, tea production and tea exports are all declining.
Secondly, we discuss a range of important macroeconomic indicators to assess the state of the Indonesian economy in Q3-2024, including retail sales, consumer confidence, credit growth and foreign visitor arrivals.
Thirdly, and quite interesting in our opinion, we discuss a recent World Bank report that shows a decline in the size of Indonesia's middle class segment between 2018 and 2023. Obviously, it implies missed opportunities for the Indonesian economy if the size of the middle class segment contracts.
Lastly, we also cover a range of subjects, including Indonesian inflation, trade balance, rupiah, maufacturing and monetary policy.
