Indonesian Woman Arrested in Kim Jong Nam's Murder Case
The second woman that was arrested in Kim Jong Nam's murder case is an Indonesian citizen named Siti Aishah, who originates from Banten in the western part of Java. Malaysian authorities announced the arrest of the Indonesian citizen. This was later confirmed by Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Ministry. Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of the North Korean leader, was poisoned on Tuesday (14/02) at Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Indonesian authorities requested consular access in order to provide legal assistance to the Indonesian citizen.
Earlier, a woman with a Vietnamese passport was arrested in this case. It is speculated that North Korean authorities are behind the assassination of the estranged half brother of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Nam started to fall out of grace with his father, the late Kim Jong Il, in 2001 when the former tried to enter Japan on a fake passport to visit Disneyland. In the following decade more issues between father and son occurred. It was reported in media that Kim Jong Nam had been targeted for assassination in the past.
It is interesting to note that Kim Jong Un never met his murdered half-brother. In North Korea children who have a chance of succeeding their father on the throne are raised separately.
Millions of Indonesians work in neighboring Malaysia. Usually, Indonesian women work as housemaids, while Indonesian men usually work at Malaysian plantations or in the construction sector.
