Live Updates & Blog: Indonesia's 2024 Presidential & Legislative Election
Today -14 February 2024- a total of 204.8 million Indonesian voters are allowed to visit the ballot boxes to vote for their preferred presidential candidate and political party for the 2024-2029 period. Voting takes place between 07:00 am and 13:00 pm (local time).
Today, we follow all developments and regularly present updates on this webpage. So, make sure to come back to this page, or refresh/reload this webpage, to see the latest updates.
We are now waiting for the quick count results that are expected to come in around 15:00 pm (Jakarta time). Based on previous elections, the winner becomes clear after 60 percent of the votes have been counted. If the winner collects more than 50 percent of the national votes as well as securing at least 20 percent of the votes in at least 20 provinces, then the race is determined today. If not, then there will be a second round (in June 2024) in which the two top candidates (based on today's election) participate. However, for the official result of the first round we will probably need to wait until 20 March 2024.

Updates this morning:
09:40 am - All presidential candidates have visited the ballot boxes this morning. Anies Baswedan voted in South Jakarta, Prabowo Subianto in Bogor (West Java), and Ganjar Pranowo in Semarang (Central Java).
11:45 am - On a number of locations the voting process has been disrupted. For example, in a number of districts in Papua the ballot papers were damaged. Reportedly, this involved a misunderstanding as locals suspected the ballot forms were false because they lacked a hologram. However, currently a barcode is used on the ballot paper. Overall, however, we see an orderly and peaceful voting process around the country.
13:15 pm - While many polling stations are still open for those voters who have been queuing up from before 13:00 pm, it is now too late for those who arrived after 13:00 pm. We didn't receive reports about significant disruptions, and so we are now eagerly awaiting the quick counts that are expected to come in shortly after 15:00 pm.
